I began teaching in 1969; have taught elementary, middle, and high school and been a science museum educator/administrator, a science magnet high school principal, and a state supervisor of science. I've written 26 books and published many journal articles. I'm a FOSS trainer. Wife & I have 3 kids.

Studying and teaching about humans and their place on the planet. Historically science education and place-based education in the Hudson River Valley, NY. Contributed to the Urban Environmental Education Book (Alex Russ, editor; Published by Cornell, NAAEE, and eeCapacity). Previous work: Classroom teaching in Red Hook and Chatham; Outdoor education at Wild Earth Wilderness School, Hudson River Sloop Clearwater, and San Mateo Outdoor Education. Currently with Kingston Land Trust doing conservation and stewardship work with education infused into our work with volunteers, land owners, and neighbors. 

Margaritte Arthrell-Knezek is a naturalist, writer and community educator committed to teaching the skills of sustainability and instructing children and adults on how to connect with the natural world that surrounds them daily in her program Under the Canopy. UTC was founded in Tulsa OK in 2016.
